At the break of the day the sun yawns and stretches
and polishes earth with her stems of light,
gently rousing the creatures from slumbersome sleeps
and dusting away the remains of the night.
With balmy gaze and buttery breath
the beards of the clouds she lovingly brushes,
transforming dense tangles to light fluffy wisps
to the cheering songs of awakening thrushes.
The frost in its grace understands that it’s time
and packs its diamonds in transparent sacks
with gentle bows it fizzes from ground
revealing deep imprints of animal tracks.
Bees gingerly flex their elegant feet
refreshed by the wind in their wings,
the beetles bark orders and trudge from their forts
and search for treats the new day brings
The flowers unravel a rainbow of joy
a patchwork quilt all around,
like confetti their petals drift through the breeze
then gracefully waltz to the ground
And the sun smiles on at all her children
And basks in her own warm embrace,
she rests on her throne in comfort and peace
so thankful to reign in this magical place.
